One week left for Rysy and the Tatra saddles before the winter closure

Anyone hoping to stand on Rysy, Kriváň or one of the Tatra saddles this year has until the end of October. From 1 November, the seasonal closure of high-mountain trails in Tatra National Park (TANAP) comes into force again.¹

The closure is set out in the park's visitor rules and covers most saddles, peaks and higher sections in the High and Belianske Tatras until 31 May. They include the route to Rysy via Chata pod Rysmi, Kôprovský štít, Bystrá lávka, Kopské sedlo and the saddle below Svišťovka. The closure applies even on dry, sunny days.¹²

Where you can still go

Trails to the mountain huts remain open all year, including those to Téryho chata, Zbojnícka chata, Chata pri Zelenom plese, Žiarska chata and Popradské pleso. The exception is Chata pod Rysmi, which closes for the winter along with the path to it.¹

The trail in Juráňova dolina closes from 1 November to 30 April. The path to the Symbolic Cemetery below Ostrva stays open until 15 December.¹

At Štrbské Pleso, the blue trail to Chata pod Soliskom also closes. Walkers can use a temporary route along the edge of the ski piste from the lower lift station.¹³
