The 51st Bratislava Jazz Days finish on Sunday evening at Incheba Expo Arena, and the last night belongs to Ibrahim Maalouf. The French trumpeter is playing in Slovakia for the first time, with his project Trumpets of Michel-Ange.12
On stage he is joined by four more trumpeters and a jazz quartet of saxophone, guitar, bass and drums. The French Institute in Slovakia describes the programme as a mix of jazz, pop and world music.2
Before the headliner
The evening opens at 18:00 with Laser Sights, an international group founded by drummer Mattia Müller while he was studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. American vibraphonist Joel Ross follows at 19:20. Blue Note Records released his fifth studio album, Gospel Music, this year.13
The weekend so far
Friday was headlined by the Paris electro-swing band Caravan Palace, with guitarist Charlie Hunter's trio before them. On Saturday, Indian bassist Mohini Dey returned to Bratislava after a sold-out spring show, and Cuban cellist and singer Ana Carla Maza presented her project ALAMAR.13
Day tickets start at €59.3
